Australian Government Not Keen On Legalizing Online Gambling

Australians are big enthusiast for gambling and have many of the world’s biggest casinos to prove their love for the game. Slots, often called Pokies, is the most played game in Australia. Poker is also becoming extremely popular these days and more and more players are opting for online poker games because of the convenience they offer.

Although the Australians love gambling, the Australian government doesn’t seem to share the same passion and are unfortunately not to keen on advocating this extremely lucrative activity. The Aussie Government seems to be taking a concern about what effect online gambling might have on society. Does this scenario sound all too familiar? Well in case you didn’t know, the Aussie government seems to be following in the footsteps of America, who seem to be very skeptical about online gambling. Well only because they don’t want the money from gambling to go offshore. They should regulate it like the UK government does.

What’s even more interesting is that the Australian Productivity Commission recently submitted their report on gambling and the Australian Government still doesn’t seem impressed. On Wednesday they announced that they were not willing to support the liberalization of online gambling just yet.

However this isn’t the end of online gambling down under. The Australian Government has agreed to study the various regulatory approaches other countries have taken, including the USA and will then decide whether online gambling can be promoted, regulated and profited from.

In this day and age when people are enjoying the vast benefits that online casinos have to offer, there are still countries that have so much negativity towards online gambling. What these countries fail to understand is that online gambling can offer benefits to everyone – players and the state too.
